Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP)

Carla Erhartic

It recently came to the attention of NYS DOH, that adult care facilities performing specific testing onsite, must register with Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program. This is to advise you about those requirements. Adult care facilities that perform laboratory tests on materials obtained from the human body for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment must meet federal and state requirements to do so. Simple laboratory tests including, but not limited to fingerstick glucose, urine dipstick, occult blood, and influenza testing are subject to oversight by the New York State Department of Health’s Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP).
