he role of social media before, during, and after an emergent event can be a challenge for any agency.  Strategies and best practices are being adapted to the variety and unique attributes of the various social media platforms.

One consistent element is that users of media will seek reliable sources of information on the platforms they use, if they exist.  Most agencies report having at least one account in the social media realm.  Most common platforms include Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.  To learn more about utilizing social media as a resource during and emergent event, please see the attached documents below.
